Social Media Management

6 years, 7 platforms, 4 brands. Below is what moved.

2026 Maiden Convocation — one ceremony, 4 cities, one conversation

Miva Open University · June 2026

Miva’s first convocation held in 4 cities simultaneously: Lagos as the main ceremony, with Abuja, Port Harcourt and Jos hosting parallel viewing centres.

I owned the social media content plan for pre-, during, and post-event, but the coverage was the hard part. One team can’t be in 4 cities, so I recruited student volunteers in each location, briefed them on exactly what to shoot and who was shooting what, and ran live posting across all 7 channels from all 4 sites as the day unfolded. Part of what I did was run a campaign with the graduating class: a branded hashtag, prompts in the weeks ahead, and collaboration posts on their own accounts to push the story further than ours.

2.88M people reached, up 3,403%. 524 brand mentions, up 732%. 78,814 interactions, up 2,365%. 436 pieces of user-generated content, up 848%. Roughly ₦10M in equivalent advertising value from earned coverage. Positive sentiment moved from 35% to 54%. 5,852 people in the hall, 15,500 watching on YouTube. Building an organic channel that outperformed paid

Miva Open University · Jul 2025 – Jul 2026

Miva provided the resources and tools I requested to create high-quality social media content; I set out to show that the organic content I produced was worth the production spend.

I rebuilt the social media strategy: built a detailed & tailored content system and calendar, defined pillars, developed a weekly cadence, mapped formats to platforms, organised monthly content review and planning, and ensured the channel performed every moment. I built the page around content that treated the reader as a peer rather than just a prospect, provided value to our target audience, and delivered on Miva’s goals.

In one year, web traffic acquisitions saw organic social sessions up 51.78% — delivering 23% of social key events and converting 6× more per session, key events up 315.47%, session engagement at 37.12% against paid’s 9.98%, holding attention 4× longer. Organic social traffic also up 249% in 2026 H1. 200K+ new followers in 20 months across 7 channels. 160M impressions, 32.71% average engagement rate; 330% organic LinkedIn growth in 12 months. Miva Creatives Club — building a content engine independent of me

Miva Open University · 2024 – present

Miva is a fully online university with a growing physical footprint. There was little to no student-generated content, which is the kind that does more for an institution’s credibility than anything an official account can post. So I built the structure to produce it.

The club runs 100+ students nationwide through a 10-person student executive year on year — president, VP of operations, a communications lead, a video production lead, and state coordinators in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt and Jos who double as handlers for the student pages. Executives own areas; members belong to teams.

200+ assets shipped. The student pages passed 3,000 combined followers in roughly 6 months on purely organic growth, with 250K+ reach in the last 90 days. Members who’ve graduated are still creating.

Miva’s main channels can’t carry the whole story on their own. So I set up the surrounding sources to feed it: the Alumni Network, the Creatives Club, a LinkedIn Page for the Career Advancement Centre, and the student pages all producing content separate from the main account. The point wasn’t just volume; it was making Miva’s social presence independent of any one person, including me.

Miva Alumni Network — 7 platforms from zero

Miva Open University · June 2026

Launched immediately after the maiden convocation, while the graduating class was still posting about it. The window was narrow and the audience was warm.

I built and launched all 7 channels in the same 2 weeks, and used the convocation’s momentum as the acquisition engine rather than starting cold.

1,500+ organic followers across platforms in 4 weeks, and 165K+ views and impressions, all on zero ad spend. Native platform analytics · Jun – Aug 2026

uLesson — reviving a quiet channel

The uLesson Group · Nov 2023 – present

uLesson’s social had gone quiet. I rebuilt the calendar across Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, TikTok and YouTube, and focused on content that earned its way to non-followers rather than talking to the existing base.

Organic social sessions to the uLesson app grew 1,227%, and key events grew 1,261%. Instagram reach rose 545% in the launch window; organic Facebook views rose 119%, with 471,753 of total views coming from non-followers. YouTube holds 25,691 subscribers with watch time up 26% and subscribers up 21% year on year. Google Analytics, Meta Business Suite & YouTube Studio

AfriLabs — a thriving community of innovators

AfriLabs · Mar 2022 – Aug 2023

AfriLabs connects 500+ innovation hubs across Africa. I ran social for 5 channels — AfriLabs, AfriLabs Connect, AfriLabs_AG, the AU Digital and Innovation Fellowship, and ONEPlanET — alongside the 2021 and 2022 Annual Gatherings, RevUp Women, Africa Business Heroes, Catalytic Africa, and many other impactful projects.

The thing I’m proud of isn’t even the metric. I founded and ran a community for the social media handlers across those member hubs, so hubs in Lagos, Nairobi and Kigali were sharing what worked instead of each solving the same problem alone.

50% organic follower growth in 18 months across all channels. +40% increase in members’ social engagement in 6 months. Content reached over 1 million people in 2023 H1 through a targeted campaign.

The Nigerian Startup Act — social for a bill that became law

Volunteer, Social Media Lead · Mar 2022 – Jan 2024

I led a volunteer team of 10–15 across copy, design and page management, building public support for the Nigerian Startup Bill and keeping ecosystem stakeholders engaged through the legislative process.

The Bill was signed into law in October 2022. Engagement rose 40%, website traffic 50%, and following 80% across the campaign.

Also in the mix

Neo Cloud Technologies was an early-stage startup selling enterprise management platforms — school management and student information systems, hospital information systems handling records, billing, scheduling and inventory, and equivalent systems for hotels — alongside a tech training arm, where I delivered the digital marketing course. I ran social from a standing start and grew Instagram roughly 1,700% in 6 months on organic content alone, with unique impressions up more than 300-fold. Elsewhere: the Miva Study Centre launches across several states, from announcement through opening; Freshers Connect for every cohort since May 2024, 3 a year; the 2024 and 2025 matriculation ceremonies, the 2024 edition keynoted by Prof. Yemi Osinbajo; the uLesson Classboard launch; influencer campaigns across programme launches and milestones; admissions fairs, the Miva merchandise debut, and student milestone campaigns.

How I run a channel

  1. I start with the brand, not the account. What is it selling, who is it for, and what does that person actually struggle with? Everything after this is downstream of getting that right.

  2. Then I read the account. What’s working, what’s dead, and what the audience keeps returning for — which is rarely what the brand thinks it’s selling.

  3. I build the strategy and the calendar before I post anything. Pillars, cadence, formats, who’s in frame, what each platform is actually for. The calendar is what turns good instincts into a channel that performs every week instead of occasionally.

  4. Same message, native formats. A story that works on LinkedIn works on TikTok — just not in the same shape. Repurposing isn’t lazy. Posting the identical asset everywhere is.

  5. I make the content, then let the audience extend it. Regular posting is the floor. But nothing outperforms social proof — students, alumni and graduands telling the story from inside it, of their own free will. That’s a multiplier, not a substitute.

  6. I build for the comments, not just the feed. Replies, reposts, polls, contests that reward the people who keep showing up. An audience that feels seen brings their circle with them, and community is the cheapest reach you will ever get.

  7. Then I check whether the numbers that matter to this particular business are green. Engagement rate tells me the content is landing with the people seeing it. Click-through and sessions tell me it moved them somewhere. Retention tells me they stayed once they arrived. Key events tell me it did the job. Every social metric is valid — the skill is knowing which ones answer the question you were actually asked.

  8. And I report it so the room can act on it. I pull the data that speaks to the goal we actually set, let it steer the next month rather than just describe the last one, and put it in front of stakeholders as clean visuals — what worked, what didn’t, and what I’d do next.

“I supervised Goodness for over a year and she showed good growth in that time, implementing several social media campaigns and contributing to the overall brand perception and visibility. Additionally, she carried out other tasks related to general communications and consistently demonstrated courage in learning new things.”
