Writing for the Miva Blog

Published under my byline · 2024 – present

NUC approval for four new bachelor’s degree programmes. A regulatory milestone written for two audiences at once — prospective students who care that the programmes exist, and an ecosystem that reads NUC approval as a credibility signal. Vice-Chancellor’s quote, inspection detail and facilities list, without letting it collapse into a compliance notice.

The Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers visit. Partnership storytelling — positioning a stakeholder meeting inside Miva’s wider growth narrative rather than reporting it as a diary entry.

Masterclass with H.E. Dr. Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu on paediatric cancer care. An event recap that had to carry real clinical substance and still work as public-facing content.

A visit to the National Universities Commission. Institutional engagement written to reinforce regulatory credibility and momentum.

Press releases that got picked up

Miva & uLesson

Three releases I wrote, placed in national and tech press.

Punch — NUC resource verification at Miva. Published almost as written. The article credits its source as a statement released by the institution, then follows the release’s structure and quotes throughout. I have the original document.

Email that made people post

Miva Maiden Convocation · June 2026

Five days out from convocation, the job was to turn graduands into publishers. Not “share your photos” — a specific ask with specific mechanics: tag @mivauniversity, use #MivaConvocation2026, and request collaboration on your posts so we could co-publish them to the main account.

Second person, short paragraphs, no institutional throat-clearing. The close was three lines: this is your moment, your achievement, your story.

436 pieces of user-generated content followed, up 848%, with the campaign hashtag carrying 188 mentions. Post-event social listening report · June 2026

How I write

  1. I write for the person, not the institution. Most organisational writing is drafted to satisfy internal stakeholders and it reads that way. I write to be read by someone who owes the brand nothing.

  2. I find the actual news. Every announcement contains one fact that matters more than the rest. That fact goes near the top, not in paragraph six after the background.

  3. For press, I write it the way I want it printed. A release that needs rewriting doesn’t run. A release an editor can lift almost whole does.

  4. Short paragraphs, plain words. If a sentence needs a second read, it gets cut.

  5. And I write the ask clearly. The convocation email worked because it told people exactly which handle, which hashtag and which button — not because it was moving.
